4 Centers for Art
One is good, two are better… but four centers for art in a single city is simply amazing. Minneapolis is home to a unique collection of four centers that specialize in ceramics, textiles, printmaking, and book arts. All have earned renown for artistic excellence and innovation. Each offers visitors a fascinating means to explore different forms of creative expression.Our galleries showcase work by top printmakers, book artists, fiber artists, and ceramic artists in the region and from around the world. From exquisite traditional techniques to contemporary interpretations to cutting edge innovations, centers exhibitions explore the full range of work in the arts of ceramics, textiles, bookmaking, photography and printmaking. Exhibitions change regularly – making each visit a captivating experience. Most exhibited art work is available for purchase, and a wide variety of objects created by local and national artists is available in our sales galleries throughout the year.
For visitors who want to immerse themselves in a particular medium, our centers offer an extensive array of education programs for all ages. Classes, workshops and lectures are conducted year-round. We can also arrange special tours, artist demonstrations and short hands-on events. Fees are reasonable and our centers are all handicapped accessible.
For serious collectors, casual visitors looking for unique handmade objects, and students at all levels of experience, these centers provide five good ways to begin an exploration of art in Minneapolis.
Northern Clay Center's mission is the advancement of the ceramic arts. Ongoing programs include 10 exhibitions each year of sculpture and pottery by contemporary regional, national and international artists, and of historical and architectural ceramics. The Center offers classes and workshops for children and adults, along with extended artist residencies for schools and community groups through ClayToGo and the ClayMobile. The Center also provides studio space and grants for professional artists, and represents many top ceramic artists from the region and elsewhere in the sales gallery. Guided tours, hands-on events and artist demos are available. The facility is handicapped accessible.

Highpoint Center for Printmaking is a non-profit art center dedicated to advancing the art of printmaking. Highpoint provides educational programs, community access, and collaborative publishing opportunities. Located in the Lyn-Lake neighborhood of Minneapolis, Highpoint's 4,000 sq. ft. printshop includes a classroom area that seats 30 and a gallery space for ongoing exhibitions of prints. Educational tours, adult and family classes, community free days and printmaking demonstrations are among many visitor options. Highpoint is on street-level and is handicapped accessible.

Minnesota Center for Book Arts (MCBA) is a non-profit organization working to engage diverse artists and learners in finding creativity, expression and inspiration through the book arts. MCBA provides classes in the arts of papermaking, printmaking and bookbinding for youth, families and adults. Studio space is available for hourly rental by students and artists. Our Gallery features exhibitions of traditional and contemporary book arts from around the world. The Studio shop sells the work of over 130 consignment artists with bookmaking supplies and gift items.
MCBA is located in the Open Book building in Minneapolis along with The Loft Literary Center, Rosalux Gallery and Milkweed Editions.

The Textile Center of Minnesota is a coalition of the textile community whose mission is to promote excellence in fiber arts and preserve textile traditions. The Textile Center represents and supports fiber artists working in all forms of textile media including weaving, quilting, knitting, sewing, needlework, lace making, basketry and beading.
The Textile Center features exhibitions of work by top fiber artists from Minnesota and around the world and a shop with one-of-a-kind fiber art work including jewelry, clothing and textiles for interiors. It also offers a full range of hands-on workshops and classes, a textile library and a state-of-the-art fiber arts dye lab. Special tours, demonstrations and workshops may be arranged. The Textile Center is handicapped accessible. Call for hours.
