What is the American Pottery Festival (APF)?
FUNDRAISER: First and foremost, the APF is Northern Clay Center's annual fundraiser. All contributions and purchases, during this special weekend, support NCC's programs that advance the ceramic arts (minus the artists’ commissions, of course!).
EXHIBITION and SALE: Annually, we invite a group of artists who work in diverse materials and methods—from strictly functional, to highly decorative, and every combination in between. Many of the artists you will recognize, and—we hope—some will be new to you. The APF begins each spring with a Preview Show in the sales gallery—a sneak peak of work by over 20 invited artists. The APF culminates each September with a three-day sale and exhibition of over 1000 pots.
MINI-CONFERENCE: Many of the invited artists travel to NCC for the festival, where they present an artist talk, demonstration, or workshop. They might discuss a signature form, process, or research interest, or lead you through a hands-on project. Slide talks are included with your $5 door fee; the pre-festival and weekend workshops are priced separately. The APF is a unique opportunity to talk with artists in the galleries and chat with other pottery lovers who come to town for the event. >>See More
COLLECTOR ADVENTURES: Whether you're a serious collector or an avid enthusiast, we invite you to join our collector adventures to visit private collections and the studios of ceramic artists; attend private parties with the APF artists; visit special museum collections and enjoy tours led by curators; and attend presentations about the history of pots and issues related to crafting collections. >>See More
COMMUNITY: The APF is a time to come together to discuss and celebrate the studio pottery tradition in the United States. The APF has grown into a really dynamic event in its 15 years, thanks to a wonderful cadre of invested individuals and supporters—the artists, buyers, enthusiasts, artist hosts, local educators, volunteers, staff and board, and our food purveyors.
All workshops and events held at Norther Clay Center, 2424 Franklin Ave E, Minneapolis, MN 55406.

A special thanks to our community sponsors for their support and in-kind donations to American Pottery Festival:
Every year at NCC, scores of volunteers contribute to make our American Pottery Festival a wild success. There are various opportunities available— everything from helping to plate appetizers, to unpacking pots as they arrive, to picking artists up from the airport. Volunteers often include studio artists, local clay-makers, students here and in colleges and universities, and board members. It is also a great opportunity for those who are curious about NCC and its community to get involved. If you are interested in volunteering, please email: email@example.com.
