Artist Statement

Kip O’Krongly received her B.A in studio art from Carleton College in 2001.  She continued her study of clay in studios across the country working as an apprentice in Montana, setting up her own studio in Seattle, taking numerous workshops and managing the clay program at Pittsburgh Center for the Arts.  Upon returning to Minnesota in 2008, Kip moved into the studios at Northern Clay Center and in 2009 became the NCC Studio Technician, received a Fogleberg emerging artist grant and began teaching classes.  Her current work uses earthenware clay with slips and hand cut stencils to explore her interest in the intersection of food production, energy use and transportation issues.
