Jerome Residents Exhibition: Kristin Cheronis and Donovan Palmquist
January 8 – February 17
Featured the work of two artists who completed one-year residencies at the clay center.
Narrative, Satirical, Straight: Ceramics Faculty from the University of Minnesota
February 26 – April 7
Featured work by Curtis Hoard, Tom Lane and Mark Pharis. Hoard's work focuses on large vessels with narrative images depicting emotional and social issues. Pharis creates stylized contemporary functional work, and Tom Lane's work creates social and political commentary through the use of molds and language.
Architectural Uses of Terra Cotta: Historical Examples, Processes and New Uses
April 16 – June 2
Featured the large scale uses of terra cotta by Siah Armijani and Mary Swartout, Tom Lane and Richard Peterson, Andrew Leicester, and Susan Warner. The exhibition also presented a historical perspective of the use of terra cotta. The processes and technologies developed to create and use terra cotta were shown through actual molds and sample work.
10,000 Lakes: An Installation by Walter McConnell
June 18 – July 31
An artist from Hartford, Connecticut and former resident fellow at the Bemis Foundation in Omaha, created an installation that explored our relationship to the outdoors.
NCC Faculty and Student Show
August 8 – September 3
An exhibition of work by NCC faculty and students.
Come to the Table: Installations by Martye Allen, Victoria Christen, Michael Huyck, Shirley Johnson, Gail Kendall and Connie Mayeron
September 17 – November 5
Featured collaborative installations designed by six local and regional artists, showing a wide range of functional ceramic styles. The installations also included work by sculptors, painters, metal and glass artists selected by the clay artists.
