Alwyn O’Brien from Salts Spring Island, British Columbia, Canada, is a recent MFA graduate from the University of Washington, Seattle, Washington, and received a BFA from Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, Vancouver, BC. She has exhibited extensively across Canada, and most recently in the US in the exhibition Marks: Sculptors Drawing at NCECA in Seattle. O’Brien received the Gardiner Museum’s Emerging Artist Award in 2008 and was nominated for the RBC Emerging Artist People’s Choice Award, in 2011, among other distinguishing awards. Her work can be found in the permanent collections of the MacKenzie Art Gallery, Regina, Saskatchewan and the Surrey Art Gallery, Surrey, British Columbia.
