Forrest Lesch-Middelton
Petaluma, California

Forrest Lesch-Middelton earned his MFA from Utah State University in Logan, and his BFA from New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University.  Currently, he works as a studio potter in Petaluma, California, heads the ceramics program at Sonoma Community Center, and teaches at Santa Rosa Junior College in Santa Rosa, California, and City College of San Francisco.  He says of his work, “I am inspired by the history of Middle Eastern ceramics, particularly by how the trade of Chinese porcelain with European countries influenced Islamic pottery along the Silk Road.  My pots touch on the timeless theme of how even the subtlest influences from outside a culture can affect the direction in which that culture proceeds.”
