Joan Bruneau is a full-time studio potter and has been a professor of art at Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University since 1995. Her love of travel and food sparked her desire to become a potter, after she discovered the cuisines and pottery traditions of Europe on a trip in 1983–84. Her work is exhibited throughout North America and is included in several public collections. Joan was the 2009 recipient of the Established Artist Recognition Award from the Creative Nova Scotia Leadership Council, and the 2005 recipient of the Winifred Shantz Award.
