Julia Walther

The daughter of a wood-worker and a violist, Julia Walther grew up in Oakland, California.  She studied at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, where she received a BA in Art History and rediscovered ceramics her senior year under the tutelage of Kelly Connole. Walther then attended the summer ceramics program at Alfred University in New York, followed by a year in the post-baccalaureate ceramics program at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Between 2011 and 2015, she worked at Penland School of Crafts, Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, Pewabic Pottery, Motawi Tileworks, and Rovin Ceramics. In 2012, Julia won a residency at John Glick's Plum Tree Pottery and spent two years working beside him in his studio. In the summer of 2014, she relocated to Washington, D.C. and is now a resident artist at Red Dirt Studio in Mt. Rainier, Maryland.
