Risa Nishiguchi likes to dive into material responses, investigating the dance between decay and reconstruction. Risa came to NCC as a camp assistant after earning a BA at Earlham College in Richmond, IN. She is now a regular instructor on our teaching roster. Risa says of the place ceramics holds in her life has become, “a devotion to my own personal and unique way of living as it has inspired me to live each day with attention and thrill.” After two years of carrying wares around in plastic containers on her bus commute, we are delighted to have Risa working in the studios at NCC on developing her practice. We don’t have any doubt she will find the structure and professionalism she is seeking for her identity as an emerging artist.
