Rory MacDonald, the current Chair of Craft and Assistant Professor of Ceramics at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, attended the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design for his BFA and the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred for an MFA. Lecturing and exhibiting has taken MacDonald to China, as an exchange faculty member working at the Xiamen University of Technology in Xiamen, China, and to Vallauris, France, as a resident artist in the Air-Vallauris program. His work has been exhibited throughout Canada, notably in 2012 with the solo exhibition: Chalkworks at The Mary Black Gallery in Halifax, Nova Scotia. MacDonald has also been the recipient of numerous grants and awards, including the Culture and Heritage Grant in 2012, and the Winifred Shantz Emerging Ceramics Award from the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery in 2007.
