Sanam Emami
Fort Collins, Colorado

Sanam Emami received her MFA in ceramics from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. An associate professor of art at Colorado State University–Fort Collins, Emami lectures and exhibits regularly, most recently having a solo show, Sanam Emami: New Work, at the Crimson Laurel Gallery, Bakersville, North Carolina. She has also shown with the Artstream Nomadic Gallery at the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts conference (NCECA), in Houston, Texas. Emami notes, “The primary sources of inspiration in my pots and tiles are patterns in Iranian and Islamic art and architecture. Floral imagery and architectural drawings appear alongside Islamic patterns. This imbues the work with an imagined sense of time and place.”
