Focus on handbuilding techniques while employing the slab roller, as well as the oft-overlooked extruder. On day one, students will develop and decorate their slab-rolled and extruded elements in preparation for building three-dimensional geometric forms on day two. We will explore the application of a spectrum of colored engobes and resist techniques, achieving crisp, controlled lines, and a stunning dry surface.
On day two, discussions and demonstrations will focus on appropriate materials preparation, engineering and assembling unique forms, and firing techniques for successful execution of unusual shapes and sculptures. This workshop is perfect for beginner and experienced students alike. Students are encouraged to bring in from home any stamping materials that they have. All other supplies are included.
