In collaboration with Minnesota State University, Mankato, and funded by the Minnesota State Arts Board’s Arts Access program, Northern Clay Center presents an intensive ceramic workshop for Minnesota art educators. Join ceramic artist/educator Ursula Hargens (Minneapolis, MN) and local ceramic artists Mika Negishi Laidlaw (Mankato, MN) and Todd Shanafelt (Mankato, MN) in this 2-day, Minnesota State University, Mankato-hosted workshop designed to enrich Minnesota Art Educators' existing classroom curriculum and resources, as well as deepen and inspire their own studio practice. This particular session will include demonstrations and hands-on instruction, lesson plans for your classroom, as well as historical and social context, with special attention to the integration of imagery with ceramics. Techniques will incorporate texture, slips, cold finishes, and easy image-transfer.
