NCC events at NCECA annual conference

Mar 27, 2019 (All day) to Mar 30, 2019 (All day)

Northern Clay Center staff doesn’t have to travel far to participate in the 53rd annual conference, held by the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA), March 27 – 30, 2019 in the Minneapolis Convention Center. The great city of Minneapolis is hosting the upcoming conference and NCC staff, board, and what will be an army of volunteers, couldn’t be more thrilled at the less than 3 mile commute. NCC’s own Sarah Millfelt is serving NCECA as one of the onsite liaisons for the conference, and this is shaping up to be what she thinks is one of the most dynamic conferences ever!

During the four-day conference, the theme and title of which is Claytopia, NCC will share and sell the work of local, sales gallery, grant recipient, and 2019 American Pottery Festival artists in the NCECA Gallery Expo area within the conference site, which is free to the public. We will also represent the work of a few long-time favorites for a total roster of over 50 artists.

An anticipated 6000+ lovers of all things clay will gather in Minneapolis for the 2019 conference, which will include over 100 offsite exhibitions (in Minneapolis, St. Paul, and surrounding suburbs), panels/artist demonstrations/discussions, networking and professional development. There is something for every level of maker, collector, and educator.

In 2019, with NCECA in our own backyard, NCC will once again staff a table in NCECA’s Resource Hall to promote our services for emerging and mid-career artists, including grant and residency opportunities, MN NICE, and our studio program. It’s the perfect opportunity to ask your questions, meet NCC staff, and receive valuable information about numerous opportunities for artists. And, back at 2424 Franklin Avenue East, we’ll be hosting four ceramic-centric exhibitions, as well as selling wares from our fabulous sales gallery. Out in the community, we are working to support two additional exhibitions. Here is a brief summary of those exhibitions. Stay tuned for more information!

If you are interested in supporting NCC’s NCECA efforts, we’ll have myriad volunteer opportunities available. Send your contact info and your area of interest to nccinfo@northernclaycenter.org with “NCECA volunteering” in the subject line and we’ll be in touch!
