2013 McKnight Artists Announced
Northern Clay Center congratulates the recipients of the 2013 McKnight Artist Fellowships and Residencies for Ceramic Artists. Recipients of $25,000 fellowship awards are Keisuke Mizuno (Robbinsdale) and Kimberlee Joy Roth (Minneapolis). Recipients of $6,000 residency awards are Claudia Alvarez (New York, NY); Sanam Emami (Fort Collins, CO); Ryan Fletcher (Kansas City, MO); and Sarah Heimann (Lebanon, NH). Work from these six artists can be viewed on our <<current award recipients>> page. The four residency recipients will be in residence for three months each at the Clay Center throughout 2014. Each fellow and resident will present a public workshop and/or slide lecture during his or her residency. As part of the project, the Clay Center will present a group exhibition of the work completed during the McKnight Fellowship year and Residency periods.
This program, sponsored by The McKnight Foundation in Minneapolis, Minnesota, reflects the Foundation's program goal to support an environment in which artists are valued leaders in our community, with access to the resources and opportunities they need to succeed. The Fellowships and Residencies are intended to significantly advance the work of Minnesota, national, and international ceramic artists whose work is of exceptional artistic merit, who have already proven their abilities, and are at a career stage that is beyond emerging. This is the 17th year of the program. Two fellowship grants and between two and four residency grants are awarded annually. The next deadline for applications will be Friday, April 18, 2014.
