Fall 2014 Director's Report
Fall remains my favorite time of year… both personally and professionally. Fall marks the return to jeans and jackets, the change in light and the smell of the air, the excuse to bake with pumpkin, the need for hot coffee and cocoa. Fall forces us to live in the moment as it is our reminder of what lies ahead: another winter.
Fall is the time for learning new things. Our children get back into their school routines and universities are filled with eager students. The Clay Center is buzzing with new faces, new programs, and new ways to look at and to think about ceramics.
Throughout our 2014 Autumn newsletter you will find examples of these new faces—artists, makers, supporters; new programs—the Pottery Punch Card program for teens and our new Wonderous Surfaces class; and new ways to think about ceramics—Regis Master Walter Ostrom’s lecture, our exhibition of contemporary Canadian ceramic artists, or classes on soda, gas, and woodfiring. In addition, you’ll find some of your long-time favorites, like our 16th Annual American Pottery Festival, our over 50 year-round sales gallery artists (and additional guests), and dozens of classes and workshops for all ages and stages.
We are all looking forward to spending autumn with you at NCC! We hope to see you often.
