Northern Clay Center’s New Executive Leadership

A LETTER FROM NORTHERN CLAY CENTER'S BOARD CHAIR, Craig Bishop

Leah Hughes has tendered her resignation as Executive Director of Northern Clay Center effective March 6, 2020. The Board of Directors is sad to see Leah go, and wish to thank her for her service, but with recent developments at home we respect Leah’s desire to strike more of a balance between her personal and professional life.

At its February 24th meeting the Board moved decisively to choose interim leadership. We felt it important to maintain consistent organizational values, the current strategic framework goals, and meaningful institutional knowledge and experience. As such we have decided to name Tippy Maurant (Director of Galleries & Events) and Kyle Rudy-Kohlhepp (Deputy Director of Operations and Director of Learning & Artist Services) as Interim Co-Executive Directors. With their experience as artistic director and operations director, respectively, we are confident their appointment will provide a foundation of continuity and the high standards we’ve come to expect from NCC.

The decision to go this route will be open-ended  as we consider this as an opportunity to reevaluate the leadership needs of the organization and are enthusiastic about taking this time to explore a deeper analysis of how to position NCC for continued success and evolution.

Northern Clay Center has long benefited from a talented staff, an engaged Board of Directors, and strong fiscal management. These will continue to support Northern Clay Center through this transition and as we continue our strong advocacy for the Ceramic Arts.

Best Regards,

Craig Bishop
Chair, Board of Directors
Northern Clay Center

Sincerely,

Tippy Maurant & Kyle Rudy-Kohlhepp
