Michael Flaherty, currently a lecturer in 3D at the University of Regina in Regina, Saskatchewan, received a BFA from Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and an MFA from the University of Regina. An interest in exploring has led him to travel extensively, biking across North America, living alone on a deserted island for three months, and residing in six of Canada’s ten provinces. He has exhibited across Canada, with a recent solo exhibition: Michael Flaherty: The Grey Islands at Confederation Centre for the Arts, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Islands, as well as being nominated for the RBC Emerging Artist People’s Choice Award in 2013. Over the years, Flaherty has also been the recipient of numerous grants by the Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council.
