Matthew Metz is a studio potter living in Alfred Station, New york, where he has maintained a studio since 2006. His highly-decorated work draws inspiration from folk traditions around the world. Metz has lectured and demonstrated extensively across the United States, and received numerous awards and grants, including an Individual Craft Fellowship through the National Endowment for the Arts, and two McKnight Artist Fellowship for Ceramic Artist awards through Northern Clay Center. His work can be found in many permanent collections such as the Minneapolis Institute of Art, Minneapolis, MN; and the Racine Art Museum, Racine, WI.
